This position is remote and requires experience with Veterans Affairs (VA) disability compensation advocacy or adjudication such as an adjudicator at the VA.  We are a small law firm in Salt Lake City that operates remotely on behalf of disabled veterans.  We work hard to maximize veterans benefits working often on harder to win claims and on many different types of claims on behalf of veterans.  We seek either a VA accredited advocate or someone else with direct experience adjudicating cases at VA but may want to work directly and on behalf of veterans when their claims are denied.  We operate at all levels of adjudication including BVA and CAVC.   This person will help draft and formulate legal theories in support of disability appeals, communicate with disabled clients with good customer service skills via telephone/email, and the review of voluminous medical records.  The advocate will work directly with veterans to help draft personal statements on their disabilities.  Good time management and timely processing of appeals to meet deadlines is critical. The ability to learn quickly about legal processes and medical concepts is required.

Because this job involves frequent review of voluminous medical records the maintenance of privacy/HIPAA for these records is very important as is the need to work well independently for long periods of time. Periodic training will also be offered.  Excellent technological and PC laptop skills are required, multiple computer applications, such as MS office applications, law firm case management, and adobe pro. Someone who both enjoys interacting with psychologically impaired / disabled veterans as well as working independently is required. Because the practice is geared towards veterans experience with their special needs is especially appropriate. Some writing skills are required and someone with more advanced writing skills is desired. Someone that is VA accredited advocate is most desired and /or experience as a VA adjudicator is required.  Additional useful background could be someone considering law school, a medical field or possibly with a paralegal degree, or preferred is a four year degree.
