Lenovo Professional Services is currently hiring for an HPC System Administrator to support HPC and AI customers. The role requires frequent presence in Ellendale, North Dakota. This candidate will need to be local or willing to relocate to that area. 

The candidate is expected to work effectively in providing onsite (and remote) Linux System Administration and Support in the areas of Lenovo HPC & AI platforms and solutions. This person will be responsible for supporting HPC solution at customer sites.

Being a part of the Lenovo HPC Professional Services HPC System Admin team, your responsibilities are to:

  • Hardware Installation and maintenance, which includes troubleshooting, before replacing components
  • Perform incident resolution and maintenance on the water cooling infrastructure. 
  • Interaction with the customer by keeping them updated with the progress of all issues
  • Assist and work with Lenovo Level 3 (L3) team to perform deeper analysis of any issues
  • Implement, deliver, and administer HPC Servers and Cluster.
  • Setup and steer frequent customer meetings 
  • Liaise with Lenovo partners and manage their activities
  • Perform Solution optimization, Migration and upgrade and recommend strategies
  • Work collaboratively and complementary with the hardware sales team, technical sales (presales) team and Business Partners
  • Work on a billable basis (customer-paid projects)

Position requirements:

  • 3+ years of relevant technical experience
  • Experience in Linux or HPC systems (ie SuSE, RHEL & CentOS)
  • Able to perform OS installation and upgrades with no supervision
  • Computer hardware and operating systems knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of System Management related skills, e.g. IPMI/SNMP
  • HPC system troubleshooting and support
  • Power cooling and mechanical/thermal engineering knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Very good hands-on technical skills and problem-solving skills

The base salary range budgeted for this position in CA, CO, Jersey City – NJ, NV, Ithaca – NY, NYC, WA, is $60k – $115k. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
