The Program Management Team for a major 25-mile $2 billion bus rapid transit project seeks a Senior Configuration Manager. This is a transformational project and long-term opportunity as it is a marquee project of a $7.5 billion, 20-year program.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Configuration Manager is a member of the project controls team who monitors possible, proposed, and executed changes to the project baseline. The Configuration Manager Uses senior-level technical expertise to consider broad range of engineering solutions and provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve overall project objectives on complex or unusual engineering projects.
DUTIES:
• Determines whether a potential or requested change constitute material changes to the scope, cost, or schedule of the Project.
• Facilitate communication between discipline leaders.
• Communicate scope and design changes to the project team.
• Manage and resolve the design changes in accordance with the change control process.
• Maintains a log of potential and requested changes.
• Processes change requests from Project Team members and requests supporting documentation as appropriate.
• Identifies which, if any, of the baseline documents would be affected by the change.
• Determines, in conjunction with the Project Director/Manager, whether a proposed change should be brought to the Change Control Board (CCB), according to the cost and schedule thresholds.
• Provides Baseline Change Request Forms and supporting documentation to the CCB in advance of each scheduled meeting.
• Records the decision of the CCB on each issue in the change log and notifies the initiating party.
• Arranges for baseline documents to be updated, if required.
• Monitors implementation of the change. Including project site visits.
• Updates CCB on the status of the implementation of approved changes at each CCB meeting
• Ensures revised baseline documents are routed through the appropriate approval and signature process.
• Ensures that revised baseline documents are processed by Document Control.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant professional experience on complex infrastructures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Transit project design experience
• Experience with Houston METRO, City of Houston, TxDOT and Harris County or similar agencies
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification
• Project Management Professional (PMP)
