For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on bonuses for Registered Nurses:

  • Registered Nurses with 1-3 years of experience: $10,000 (full time)
  • Registered Nurses with more than 3 years of experience: $20,000 (full time)

Eligible candidates are hired into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.

Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

Southern Maine Health Care’s Surgical Services is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join the care team. 

This position has a unique schedule that can offer suitable candidates a means to balance their work and home-life.  This RN has the option to work during the week (Monday thru Friday) and/or weekends.

Choose between a 20 hr/wk – OR – 40 hr/wk position, both with benefits.

Weekend position:

  • This RN, if desiring a 20hr position, would work alternate weekends or split weekends with a colleague.
  • If desirous of a 40hr position, this RN would work alternate or split weekends and pick up 20h of weekday shifts in the SMHC operating room.

Weeknight position: 

  • This RN, if desiring a 20hr position would work weeknights Monday – Friday either all 5 nights on alternate weeks or 3 nights one week and 2 nights the next, within the same pay period.
  • If desirous of a 40hr position, this RN would work weeknights every week.

The Details:

When on duty working  weeknights or weekends, this RN would complete room and case preparation for the next day surgeries and be available from home to staff urgent and emergent surgeries as well as on-occasion, daytime surgery that runs past 6pm during the weekday.

To be considered for this opportunity you are required to be available to arrive at the facility within 20 minutes of notice.

Position Summary

The health care work force of the future should have the knowledge and skills to provide patient-centered, community-focused, cost-effective, clinically-effective, coordinated care.  To do these things successfully, the work force must be competent, flexible, and adaptive to changes in health care delivery and technology.  The Registered Nurse is responsible for performance of complex, individualized, family oriented nursing care in accordance with policies and procedures under the direct supervision of a charge/shift leader RN.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: N/A
  2. License/Certifications: Current licensure from the Maine State Board of Nursing as an R.N. required. BSN preferred. BLS and ability to perform CPR required. ACLS preferred.
  3. Experience: Greater than 3 years’ experience as an Operating Room Circulating Nurse preferred.
