Currently Hiring:
Swing Shift 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm – Needs to be flexible depending on business needs
Rotational Saturdays – 2 to 4 hours – Mandatory Saturday Hours
Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will be able to accurately and efficiently fill prescription requests in an automated refill setting. Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician prepares, packages and distributes medications in a fast-paced production environment. Maintains continuous, consistent work flow in order to meet daily production goals; and has the ability to work productively either independently or as a team.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Manually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules
- Read computer generated screens to find indicated merchandise on labeled shelves, verify size and strength of the product before filling order
- Replenish medication in automated cells to full capacity; opening large quantities of bottles and cases of product
- Basic mathematical reasoning to either count or calculate appropriate number of units needed to fill prescription
- Legibly write expiration dates on prescription labels
- Use of handheld scanner unit to scan barcodes of product for replenishment
- Place pharmaceutical products in appropriate containers and affix labels to containers in Bulk
- Fill mail order and specialty prescriptions
- Demonstrate problem resolution skills: ability to recognize, address and escalate issues
- Maintain focus and acute attention to detail while performing repetitive tasks with absolute accuracy
- Perform cleaning and maintenance on all cells/cassettes as needed
- Monitor inventory for expired or short dated pharmaceuticals
- Maintains the pharmacy floor in a clean and orderly condition
- Assists Inventory Dept with scheduled cycle counts
- Understands and abides by federal and state HIPAA laws as well as pharmacy standard procedures to ensure patient safety and privacy
Additional Responsibilities:
- Processes orders for shipping including folding/packing paperwork and attaching shipping label
- Assists in stocking shelves and maintaining inventory
- Sorts orders by store location and places in totes for shipping using handheld scanners
- Receives and stores incoming product from DC occasionally
- Complies with policies, procedures & SOP’s
- Adheres to and promotes the Company’s Shared ICARE Principles
Qualifications for the Position:
Education/Training:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Good standing current Pharmacy Technician license required
- PTCB National certification
- Pharmacy Technician license must be kept valid throughout the term of employment
- Previous pharmacy experience preferred
Business Experience:
- Working knowledge of pharmacy operations and professional standards
- Good computer skills
- Warehouse experience a plus
- Exhibit customer service to all team members and strong interpersonal skills in a constantly changing production environment
Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to fill prescriptions with 100% accuracy and efficiency using automated equipment and subsequent programs
- Able to read and navigate computer applications
- Good communication skills and adaptability to meet production demands
Working Conditions:
- Environment (e.g., office, manufacturing, warehouse)
- General office and warehouse demands
- Refrigerated bulk station (5% – 7% of time spent weekly)
Physical Requirements (e.g., lifting, standing for extended periods, climbing):
- Able to select and lift objects from shelves and carry to order filling line
- Occasional lifting and carrying of 5-10 pounds
- Standing/walking continuously during the shift (8+hours per day)
- Requires bending, twisting, reaching, grasping and pinching
- Pushing pucks or canisters onto main conveyor line
- Visual acuity to read computer screens, handheld scanners and labels
