Job Summary

TO THE MARKET is looking for a talented Import Logistics Manager who will combine both tactical and strategic responsibilities overseeing the distribution, warehousing and transportation of goods from the manufacturer to the client.  This position offers an attractive opportunity to recommend, create and implement logistical best practices, vision, processes and procedures.   This role also includes managing import and export regulations, as well as customs classifications

The Import Logistics Manager is a remote opportunity and will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of logistics, including shipping, 3pl warehouse, freight forwarders, customs brokers, truckers and delivery.

  • Negotiate shipping rates and contracts with logistics providers including freight forwarders and couriers for the best rates and service available.  

  • Collaborate with the development team, production team, sales team and global sourcing partners to ensure on time delivery.  

  • Manage the product delivery time in conjunction with the timelines of the company’s business strategies.  

  • Implement best practices with global partners, including operating and shipping procedures.  

  • Oversee WMS and EDI interfaces to support drop shipments and EDI partners.  

  • Review all vendor manuals, shipping and routing guidelines to ensure compliance.

  • Create and implement best practice logistics principles, policies and processes across the supply chain.

  • Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and work collaboratively with direct reports to manage stock movements.

  • Identify and resolve any inventory discrepancies, while ensuring inventory and system records are in agreement.

  • Ensure compliance with import, export, and customs regulations.   

  • Meet budget standards by forecasting and managing expenses

Required Skills and Experience

  • A Minimum of 4 years of experience in operations and logistics within a retail or manufacturing industry.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, merchandising or related field.

  • Management experience, focusing on cost and efficiencies within the supply chain.

  • Solid understanding of the fashion product categories, such as apparel, accessories and home goods.

  • An energetic and optimistic presence, one who will thrive in a start-up and lightning fast paced environment.

  • Exemplary relationship building skills with colleagues, vendors, and others.

  • Ability and enthusiasm to work cross functionally with other departments.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Admirable oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or comparable software such as Google Suite.
