SIU School of Law seeks to fill one full-time Assistant Professor of Practice faculty position. The successful candidate will coordinate the Veterans’ Legal Assistance Program clinic and teach students who enroll in the course. This is a non-tenure track 12-month appointment (possible renewal contingent on available funding) with an anticipated start date of April 1, 2022.
Representation of Veterans in administrative actions and civil legal matters. Classroom and clinical instruction as well as other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Applicants must possess a Juris Doctor degree and be a Department of Veterans Affairs accredited attorney.
Licensed to practice law in Illinois or eligibility for Admission on Motion. Experience teaching in a law school. Two or more years of experience handling Veterans Affairs disability claims at the RO, BVA, and CAVC levels. Experience with some civil legal matters including family law, wills, and powers of attorney
