Air Weather Reconnaissance Association (AWRA)

The Air Weather Reconnaissance Association (AWRA) is a veteran-led nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of the Air Weather Reconnaissance Squadrons of the United States Air Force. The AWRA was founded in 1995 by a small group of veterans who had served in the Air Weather Reconnaissance Squadrons and wanted to ensure that the legacy of their service would be remembered. The mission of the AWRA is to promote awareness, education, and research about the history and accomplishments of the Air Weather Reconnaissance Squadrons.

The Air Weather Reconnaissance Squadrons were established in the late 1940s and served as the primary source of meteorological data for the Air Force during the Cold War and beyond. The squadrons were responsible for gathering weather data and providing meteorological support to military operations around the world.
